10 Tips on Skin Tightening

Battling loose skin after weight loss is the worst! After months and months of watching what you eat and working out, you are left with the skin of a fat woman’s past. This saggy skin can leave you feeling hopeless and insecure. There is nothing worse than finally fitting into that sexy little black dress and having your moment of victory short lived by sagging skin, cellulite, and stretch marks. Some women are blessed and don’t go through these body changes but for the rest of us…it’s the worst!

Ways to Make Loose Skin Tight

Losing weight is only half the battle! Before starting any weight loss journey, always try to make sure to cover all angles. Arming yourself with information on how and why things will happen during your weight loss will help you to prevent and combat loose skin during your journey. This way if you still end up with some loose skin, it was expected and it won’t be as devastating. Always leave surgery as the last option. Staying on top of your diet, drinking lots of water, strength training, and cardio can go a long way.

Do Not Lose Weight Quickly

Losing weight too quickly is one of the main reasons why people end up with saggy skin. More than three pounds per week is considered unhealthy and will cause skin to lose elasticity faster which makes it harder for skin to bounce back into shape. Losing 1-2 lbs. a week is ideal. Plus, studies have proven that the slower you lose weight, the better chance you have of keeping the weight off.

Moisturize Daily

When you are losing weight moisturizing your skin every day is great because it helps it to maintain elasticity as your body shrinks.

Moisturize at Night

When you apply moisturizer to your body at night, the time when your body has the most hours to recuperate and heal, wearing long sleeved pajamas will help to seal the moisture in all night.

Exfoliate your Skin

Using a loofah or some sort of body scrub twice a day to exfoliate will help tighten any loose skin caused by weight loss.

Drink Water

Drinking eight glasses of water a day will secure moisture in the skin. Water also flushes toxins out of your skin which leaves it feeling and looking healthy.

Lift Weights

Lifting weights during weight loss is very important to keep skin tight. Replacing fat with muscle helps to make the skin to appear tightened around the muscle mass when you lift weights.

Exercise Frequently

. Yes, I know lifting weights is usually considered exercising but I’m talking about sit-ups, squats, lunges, push-ups, running, etc. Exercise builds muscles that plumps the skin from the inside making the skin appear tighter.

Crunches are one of the most effective exercises for tightening abs.

Tighten Your Stomach Muscles

Pull your muscles in while you’re driving in the car, playing video games, watching a movie, or even sitting at your desk. Tighten your stomach muscles and hold them in for a couple of minutes then release.

Don’t Eat Sweets

Do not eat sweets or products that don’t have fructose syrup in them. Those are the 10 tips on how to tighten loose skin after weight loss. If anyone has more tips they would like to share, please feel free.
