Stone Lake, Wisconsin — After postal workers took notice that mail had not removed from the mailbox of the Egan family, they contacted the local police. Deputies decided to make a visit to the home. They found Micheal Egan on the floor of his bedroom. He had been dead for at least a week, yet their was no sign of his mother.

After sending in cadaver dogs, authorities say they found Elizabeth’s badly decomposed remains under rags, sleeping bags and plastic on top of the sofa. Elizabeth was last seen about six years ago and would have been 95 years old. There is no way of knowing exactly how long ago she had died.

Looks like her son kept her body in the home so that he could continue to benefit from his mother’s social security checks, since the checks were automatically deposited in a checking account of which he had access.
