Salmonella Outbreak, Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter

Likely the source of a Salmonella outbreak, Trader Joe’s Valencia Cream Salted brand peanut butter has been recalled.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration, the product has been linked to 29 salmonella cases in 18 states with four people hospitalized.  All jars of the peanut butter involved in the recall have been removed from the grocery store’s shelves and the company is asking customers who purchased the product to return it to the store for a full refund or to trash it.  No list of the states affected by the recall has yet to be released.

We will update this article when the information becomes available.  At present, it is known that Massachusetts, Rhode Island and North Carolina have reported cases.
