Tonight, President Obama announced that an agreement has been reached between both parties that will keep the country from defaulting on debt obligations.
Neither democrats nor republicans got what they wanted out of the deal, but compromises were definitely made. According to one news source, the plan is to raise the debt ceiling while cutting 1 trillion in spending over the next ten years. Another report uses the amount of 2 trillion in spending cuts.
So far, the reactions from the public have not been favorable and stirring up much anger among the American people.
Talks will continue on Monday with both parties to get things finished before the deadline of Aug. 2, when the default would have taken place. A lot of work is ahead of them.
