With Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler leaving the show, American Idol is left with open spots.
The speculation is that Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey among others are being considered as the next American Idol Judges.
Franklin has let her interest be known and has responded to the inquiry that she is definitely interested.
Mariah Carey’s hubby, Nick Cannon doesn’t think the show can afford his wife and just to consider the offer he wants double that that was paid to Lopez. I imagine Lopez is pretty offended that Cannon would think Lopez out of his wife’s league.

UPDATE: Mariah Carey will indeed be joining American Idol on Season 12 of the show and will get $18 million for her new role as a judge on the show.
