It’s a sad story coming out of Henrico County, Virginia.  An expectant mom, Angela Janecka (39), tried to get an abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy but was turned away because she was too far along.  It’s what happened after that that is unthinkable to me.  It is obvious that this woman was not in the right mind during her pregnancy or after she gave birth.

Angela told her husband that her baby was no longer alive in utero.  On August 25, 2012, Janecka gave birth and called her husband to tell him that the baby had been stillborn and that a mystery doctor had taken the baby away. After insisting that her husband not come home, he rushed to her side and began clean up at their home accepting her story as truth.  From the time of the birth and the time James Janecka arrived home was approximately 15-30 minutes, according to the authorities.

After hearing sounds coming from the dryer, James thought it was the family cat and upon further inspection found his newborn in a plastic bag in the dryer.  He unwrapped her and picked up the phone for help.

It’s confusing to many as to why Angela’s husband didn’t call 911 but instead called the older son’s pediatrician and left a message.  The physician called for emergency help, telling them that there may be a woman in distress in the home.

Sources say that the infant is in the custody of Child Protective Services.  She was born weighing 8 plus pounds and is doing fine.  The couple also have an autistic 8 year old son at home.   It was not immediately clear if the older child is still with the family.

Henrico County authorities arrested the child’s mother Tuesday on charges of neglect and attempted murder.  In court, the Judge requested a mental evaluation be performed on Angela Janecka before moving forward with the case which is still being investigated.  Her bond was of course rejected.
