A 3 year old deaf boy is being forced to sign his name differently. The youngster currently signifies his name by crossing his index finger over another in a symbol that resembles a gun, according to Grand Island Public Schools in Nebraska which bans the use of an instrument that looks like a weapon.

Hunter Spanjer is the little guy we’re talking about and his family is outraged by the news. The ACLU has delicately, along side the parents, asked that the action be reconsidered. The family has not ruled out legal action if the ruling stands.

“Anybody that I have talked to thinks this is absolutely ridiculous,” Hunter’s grandmother Janet Logue told NCN. “This is not threatening in any way.”

Hunter’s dad, Brian Spanjer, told The Huffington Post on Tuesday: “I feel like it was an overreach on their part and I expected a lot better from the local school district.”

I agree with the grandmother, it is not threatening in any way and they should allow him to communicate in any way he can.
