With 21 reports of skull fractures from babies falling out of the baby seats they manufactured, the company, Bumbo International has recalled approximately four million “Bumbo Baby Seats”.
In 2007, the company placed warning labels on the seats telling consumers not to place them on raised surfaces such as tables or counters.
The company also stated that babies can wiggle out of the seats when placed on the floor and can become injured.
There were 34 reported cases of injuries from the seats when placed on the floor as opposed to 50 injuries after the seats were placed on raised surfaces.
Bumbo seats were sold at Babies R Us, Target, Walmart and other retailers nationwide from August 2003 through August 2012.
The company has added a safety belt to the seat to make it safer. That kit is free when contacted by consumers who bought the seats from August 2003 through August 2012. Bumbo Baby Seats were sold at retail stores, Walmart, Target, Babies R Us and others across the U.S.
