The topic of discussion is mostly about the couch potatoes who sit all day long and watch T.V., play video games, or work on the computer. For those people, just a mere 15 minute brisk walk can prolong life. I have to admit, I sit too much and write on the computer. Either in the Mom’s blog here or for my work assignments. What do you guys think. Will this study motivate you to get outside and shake your Bootee or will you continue to sit? I am thinking of 15 now. Here is to good exercise for all of us!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I hope I have encouraged you all to keep moving!
I agree that 15 minutes of exercise daily or more would help your overall health. Got to be able to keep your heart healthy and moderate exercise is a way to do it!
I love reading articles like this that motivate me to get moving. I tend to get sedentary during the day and I know that after vigorous movement I feel better physically and mentally. This study is a definite motivator.
I can tell everyone from experience that exercise is very helpful. I feel better afterwards and sleep better at night. 15 minutes is better than nothing, but I always strive for 30 minutes about 5 days a week. You still need some rest days, so don’t over do it by exercising 7 days a week.
I consider myself active and yes this study motivates me to get outside and shake my Bootie…
The more we get active the more we feel better about ourselves inside and out. Let’s spread the news and take care of ourselves ladies.
We are spending too much time inactive working on computers etc, this article is a big eye opener ! Excellent.
Fifteen minutes of exercise is so easy to get. I have always found it easy and relaxing to just go for a walk after a busy, hectic day watching the kids. Now, I am thrilled to discover that my excursions are prolonging my life!
I know a Chris W. I wonder if you are him? Anyway, I’m glad you keep moving. (Smile).
I try to walk with my children at least once a day. I am overweight and sometimes it is really hard to get the motivation to do it but once I do I feel so much better. I’ve been dropping the pounds slowly but at least they’re gone and I feel like every time we walk my children are learning discipline and self-respect. My 22-month old walks 2 miles and my 5-year old walks 4 miles with no complaints! We get fresh air, know our neighborhood well and meet people on the way. Now that I know I’ve added on 14% to our lives I will find even more opportunities to get some exercise.
Not only will I now be committed to doing this daily for myself, but I’m going to get my kids involved too. 14% is a lot of life that I don’t want to miss out on just from being purely lazy! 15 minutes a day is totally worth it.
Wow, my hubby read that to me this morning….after his 2 hour walk…of course, I was sitting at the table, with computer and coffee, while he read it….15 minutes doesnt sound like alot….and I really should do it because like you, I sit at a desk all day for work and then again at home, other than some house cleaning…..now how to incorporate that into my everyday living…..I do tend to park at the end of a shopping mall so that I have to walk to get to the store…so that is a start….going to try….thanks.
We should commit to do this for ourselves. I went for a jog/walk yesterday and I plan to try to put in 15 a day. I realize even a few minutes can be so energizing for my life. Thanks for your post.
Wow, that’s impressive, 14% longer life!
