In a neighborhood in California, Ishaan Singh, a 9-year-old boy, spotted a child on the bottom of the community pool. His mother urged him to go into the water by saying, “jump!” Without delay, Ishaan jumped into the water and pulled a three year old girl up to the surface of the water and to the side so that neighbors could pull her out.

Another person jumped in and saved the little girl’s grandfather who was also at the bottom of the pool. The little girl had been riding on his shoulder’s in the pool and at some point both fell to the bottom of the pool. The toddler did not know how to swim. Authorities are saying that they aren’t sure if something medically happened to the grandfather who is being treated at the hospital. Both survived and Ishaan is being called a hero.

After pulling the 3 year old toddler and her grandfather from the water, the rescuers who didn’t know CPR pressed on their chests, an action that probably saved their lives. Emergency medical personnel say that it is likely that the two were under the water for 2-5 minutes. The crew arrived 4 minutes later.

This is the second time in five days, that a similar incident occurred. Just a couple of miles down the road at a community pool, again, a 6-year old girl was riding on her father’s shoulders in the pool when he slipped and fell to the bottom of the pool, losing consciousness. Both were saved by a man who pulled them from the pool and were revived.

Both incidents were being called accidental and all four are expected to make a full recovery.
