Jeremy Minnier has won the election to become mayor of Aredale, Iowa. According to sources, he won a write-in campaign in Tuesday’s election and beat our his 76-year-old incumbent opponent Virgil Homer, to become the mayor of the 74 resident town. Only 32 ballots were cast with Minter receiving 24 of them.
Minter’s first projects are to put flowers back into empty planters around the downtown area and the city’s septic and water system needs some work.
Minter is not new to community service. He is the president of his local future farmers of America chapter and holds a part time job. His response to this, “I’m a young adult. We are the future, we’re the next generation, we’re going to be running this country someday,” he said. “You need to start somewhere, and if you can start making a difference in the world today just imagine what it would be like in the generations to come.”
